Nurse Avenue: Introducing Morgan Reeves, RN
What is Nurse Avenue?
Nurse Avenue is a platform for nurse content creators to share their experiences in healthcare and what they've learned along the way from the nurse's point of view If you are interested in becoming a contributing writer, or vlogger, send a sample of your work to Daniel@clipboardhealth.com
So I'm scrolling through Facebook one day at lunch. See a post that states, "any nurses interested in blogging?" Not even thinking, I say, "me," and Bam! Instant message with a total stranger in California. Exchange some info and a few days later we arrange a date to talk on the phone about blogging and a network for nurses. I think to myself, wow what a great idea to advertise and allow nurses to express themselves, communicate, and learn about each others experiences in the nursing world.
Now to back track a little bit. A graduate of Towson University, I have been a nurse for almost 8 years and 6 of those years have been spent as an agency nurse. The experiences have been incredible. From the physicians to the nurses to all the hospital staff, I can honestly say each hospital has given me so much to love about the nursing world.
But let's be real, it's not all rainbows and pixie dust in the nursing career. From people dying, patients biting, kicking and screaming, unsafe patient to nurse ratios, and so on and so forth, this job can be dangerous! So why do we do it?!
Personally, it's for that rewarding feeling of helping someone heal, or learn about different medical conditions. It's spending time with patients and their families and educating them about fears of the unknown in medical care. It's the gratification of knowing how many lives you touch by assuring your patients "everything is going to be okay."
This here is just a simple introduction to the nursing career. So to start a discussion, let me ask you, why choose to be a nurse and what motivates you to continue growing in the nursing career?
